Carnegie Museum of Natural History presents After Dark

The lights are low, the bar is open, and the music is playing. Armed with a cocktail and your closest friend, you venture into a prehistoric world where giant sauropods tower over the bustling crowd and two T-Rexes cast in multi-colored lights are frozen in battle.

This isn’t the museum of your childhood. This is After Dark.

Five times a year, Carnegie Museum of Natural History keeps its doors open late for a 21+ party with bars, live music, and curated programming designed to give guests a whole new museum experience. Each event features a pop-culture inspired theme, unique activities, and shows. Forget your weekend routine or shake up date night. Come see who you’ll meet and what you’ll discover at the museum…After Dark.

Registration for each event includes museum admission; a wide selection of beverages and hors d’oeuvres are available for purchase (cash only). All After Dark guests must be at least 21 years old. Proper identification is required, and all guests must show ID at the door.

Round out a perfect Pittsburgh summer at Carnegie Museum of Natural History’s end of summer blowout… After Dark. Kids enjoyed free reign of the museum all summer, but now grownups can get in on the fun. Dig for fossils in Bonehunters Quarry, take adult-only docent tours, finally open that tiny and mysterious door in Bird Hall, or chill in the Sculpture Court while you enjoy a signature cocktail.

Mood lighting will up the wow-factor of our historic halls, and a DJ will be taking requests all night. There will be a meet and greet with live reptiles, and our new interactive gallery Discovery Basecamp will be open to explore. For gearheads who love all things that go, there will be a car show in the museum’s parking lot, Hot Wheels tracks to build, and a lecture on the history of transportation.

Music provided by DJ Bill Jakub of Pittsburgh Vibes Unlimited. Lecture on the history of transportation provided by the Frick Car and Carriage Museum. Pit crew simulation game provided by the Pit Stop Challenge. Slotcars provided by the Pittsburgh Slotcar Racing League. Car customization demonstration provided by Team Nutz Technology. Buggy vehicles provided by Carnegie Mellon University Buggy Alumni Association.
